The new world of Internet marketing is having an impact on the way network marketing organizations are operating and on network marketing success.
The old way for network marketing success
The old model for network marketing success starts by making lists of friends and family to be recruited into a network marketer’s downline. After such a list has been created, the new network marketer goes to each of them and invites them onto a conference call or a demonstration meeting. After the call or meeting, the network marketer talks with those they had invited in order to recruit them into his downline. Recruiting them is the goals for network marketing success.
The “warm market”
Working with a list of friends and family (the network marketer’s “warm market”), the network marketer will have a better chance to recruit them, because they are already know, like, and trust the networker. But, even working with this warm market only about 3% of network marketers ever have network marketing success in their chosen business.
Working with cold prospects
Most network marketers who are able to successfully get through their warm market get stuck trying to generate leads in a cold market. In every network marketing business, the higher levels of training to achieve network marketing success are involved in how to expand the network marketer’s prospect sources and how to recruit in that cold market. The most difficult challenge for the network marketer is to change their own personality. They need to make this change to be comfortable while establishing rapport with their cold prospect to get them to know, like, and trust them. This is the critical change needed for network marketing success.
Converting this to Internet
Attempts to convert this model into the Internet world have had mixed results. The most common way that network marketing companies have tried to enter the Internet world is to put administrative functions of their business on the Internet. This is easy to do and does somewhat improve network marketing success.
They give their network marketers their own “page” on their company site. This gives the network marketer a way for their recruits to sign-up into their downline on the Internet. This page also gives the the company’s network marketers a way to have those in their warm market access to the catalog of the company’s products and services.
Some companies have even installed some of their sales materials (brochures, presentations, videos, etc. .) in the network marketer’s page of the company site. This can help with the sales process and improve network marketing success.
Don’t deal with central issues
These Internet facilities can certainly reduce the administrative duties of the network marketer. They can reduce the network marketer’s need to carry and distribute brochures and send videos, CDs, or DVDs to those they wish to recruit. But they don’t deal with the central issues needed for network marketing success.
The new way for network marketing success
These directions which network marketing companies have taken do nothing to deal with the issues of prospect generation nor developing rapport with those cold prospects. An effective solution for a network marketing company using the Internet in helping their network marketer’s performance would include a solution for prospect generation. It would also include a process for establishing rapport between the network marketer and the prospect to develop the “know, like, and trust” relationship between the prospect and the network marketer. Now, this would be an excellent use of the Internet capabilities for improve network marketing success.
